Our Vision

St. Ann's Academy inspires achievement and instills faith in its students and others who support its mission. We manage our resources well so a quality education is affordable to all families in the area who want their children to have a faith-based education that can provide a sound emotional and spiritual foundation for life.

Mission

St. Ann’s Academy exists to provide a Catholic education in the Hornell area so that our children learn in an environment that enables them to become well-grounded spiritually and exceptional academically.

Description

St. Ann's Academy is a not-for-profit, non-public school located in Hornell, NY. We are chartered by the NYS Education Dept to serve students in Pre-K (3 & 4 year olds), and grades K through 6. The school provides a caring learning environment anchored in values. The value of studying and applying one's self is stressed so that high academic achievement can be attained as the children move into upper grades.

Inclusiveness

St. Ann's Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

News from the Board of Directors

St. Ann's Academy's 10th school year has come to an end. Many changes have occurred since then. In our first year (2012), with generosity and support of Hornell's First Presbyterian Church, we opened our school under their roof. Before our second year though, SAA had acquired its own building. The volunteer Board of Directors undertook a renovation project to convert the former funeral home into a school. Walls were moved, bathrooms installed, gallons of paint were applied, floors were stripped, all-new heating and cooling systems were installed, and the property was professionally landscaped. After a few years, a security system was installed and the roofing was upgraded to give it a 30+ year service life...Read more

Barb Berry, Principal

The Board of Directors of St. Ann’s Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Barb Berry to the position of School Principal, beginning 8/1/22. Berry will be the school’s first Principal because it has been run by the Board, with the assistance of an on-site administrator since its founding 10 years ago. She joins us with 30 years of teaching and supervisory experience, after retiring from GST BOCES, where she taught in a variety of Special Education Classrooms. Barb graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mansfield University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education: Special Education K-12 with a concentration in Psychology and was a Member of Kappa Delta Pi, Honor Society for Educators. She also received her Master of Science Degree in Education: Elementary Education N-6 with a concentration in Reading, also from Mansfield University. Barb has NYS Permanent Certification in Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education N-6. She started Teaching for Steuben-Allegany BOCES (now GST BOCES) in September 1989 and taught a variety of Special Education Classrooms over her 30-year teaching career which included every grade and subject from Pre-School to the Transition Program for students age 21.

Please help our school

St. Ann's Academy receives no funding from the Catholic Church and very little from NYS.  We are fiscally conservative, and rely mainly on tuition payments and donations to run our school. Please view our donation page to learn about donor opportunities, or click the button below to make a donation online.  Thank you and God bless you.
